I did a post a few days ago on this subject. In that post I covered some of the mistakes network marketers make in the set up of their business. In this post I will cover some of the mistakes network marketers make once they have their business up and running.
Again, there are a number of them. However here are some of the more common ones.
The first mistake that network marketers make once they have their business going is not building their own list. Your list is the life blood of your business. Companies come and go, but your list of highly motivated followers who know like and trust you is an asset you have for all time. You need to attract this list of people to you and there are a number of methods for doing that, which I will cover in a separate post.
The second mistake network marketers make once they have their business going is joining too many lists. We receive emails from many online marketers promoting their eBooks, products and services. To get access to a free gift, you are asked to provide your contact details. When you do, you are put on the online marketer’s list and then you receive emails from them on a periodic basis providing information or more marketing material. If you sign up to many of these lists, you end up spending half your day processing all the emails and links that arrive in your inbox. This takes your focus away from your business, which is clearly not a good thing.
The third mistake is forgetting that the network marketing industry is all about people. It is not about you first. It is not about your product. It is about people, your potential clients and their specific needs. This fact must be at the forefront of your mind as you conduct your business.
The fourth mistake network marketers make once in business is that they don’t use the consultative approach in their dealings with their prospects. You need to position yourself as an expert in your niche or area of business. You need to build your brand, you, and gain the respect and trust of your prospects. I cover that in more detail in another post. You need to make your prospect feel like the most important person in the world. You need to find out what their needs and wants are, their aches, their challenges, the problems they need solved. You need to ask a series of questions to identify this. Realise your solution and what you have to offer is not for everyone. Thus, there is a requirement to clarify the needs of the prospect before you offer them anything.
The fifth mistake network marketers make is not taking Action. You need to be doing the things you need to do; else you and your business will not progress very quickly. When you learn a new skill, you need to put it into action. You need to work on your business every day, be it for example, doing some more social media marketing, tweaking a PPC campaign, getting more comfortable in front of a video camera, or actively interacting with prospects. You need to continually take action because when you get the skills, you reach a comfort level which makes it all a whole lot easier, and thus you become more efficient and more effective, and your business grows.
The last mistake that network marketers make that I will cover here is not linking up with a successful mentor to provide guidance in your journey. Everyone needs a coach. Even the most successful businessmen such as Steve Ballmer, Larry Ellison, Jack Welch and even Donald Trump have business coaches or mentors. So do highly successful internet marketing entrepreneurs such as Jonathan Budd and Mike Dillard. Mentors facilitate your path to success. You need one too.
I trust the last two posts about some of the mistakes network marketers make have been of assistance to you in avoiding them yourself or even better, in you identifying where something is presently going wrong for you.
